Our History.

It’s impossible to talk about Evolve without first mentioning the parent orginization, AIM House.

AIM House was co-founded by Danny Conroy and Mae Martin in 1999 as a residential mentorship program in Boulder, Colorado. AIM House helps young people discover their strength, find their purpose, reinforce their relationships, claim their independence, and live they lives they’ve imagined.

AIM House began in a small University Hill duplex with a few male participants, several dedicated team members and a huge commitment to helping young adults become healthy, independent members of the community. As AIM House’s reputation for excellence grew, so did the number of young men who entered their doors. Today, thanks to the strong backing of educational consultants and other referring professionals, AIM House has expanded to include programs for all genders, in multiple residential houses throughout the Boulder area.

Over time, AIM House began receiving more calls from families and referring professionals with needs that didn’t fit into the category of traditional residential support. These inquiries varied widely - mentorship and clinical support in community-based housing, sobriety support, help getting connected to community or creative support, and more. The common thread was a need for both supportive services and more independence than traditional aftercare.

AIM House thus created the Evolve program with a vision for an individually curated approach to supportive services. While the traditional residential mentorship program in Boulder continues to serve young adults as they transition to adulthood, Evolve serves this unique but significant participant group.

The addition of the Evolve program allows young adults to directly enter into community-based program, where appropriate, without first going through residential. For some people traditional aftercare may be too structured, and Evolve creates a space for that group to still get the support they need in a way that works for them.
